OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS

Federal Duck Stamps aren't only for hunters. In fact, that's just a small part of our audience. If you've ever marveled at a beautiful golden sunrise over a glass blue lake, or hiked through a waving field of green grass, then buying a Duck Stamp can be a great way to support those incredible outdoor environments.

Your purchase of a Duck Stamp helps preserve millions of acres of beautiful American wetlands, ensuring clean water for millions of people and a thriving habitat for countless species of wildlife.

The great news is that your Duck Stamp also acts as a free pass to enter any national wildlife refuge that charges an entry fee, so you and future generations can explore diverse landscapes and witness incredible wildlife for years to come.

Collectors

For years, Duck Stamps have been a great way to collect miniature works of wildlife art. A new design is selected each year, through a highly anticipated national competition.

For many collectors, Duck Stamps represent the perfect blend of art collecting, conservation support and the thrill of an ever-growing collection. They're tangible testaments to decades of environmental efforts.

Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting, Duck Stamps offer a unique and meaningful way to celebrate both wildlife and artistic talent.

Artists

The annual Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest is one of the nation's most highly regarded wildlife art competitions. It offers a rare opportunity for artists to contribute to conservation while featuring their artwork on a nationally distributed stamp.

While Duck Stamp contest winners don't receive a financial award, they do earn incredible recognition, prestige and the knowledge that their art directly supports the protection of vital ecosystems.

If you're a wildlife artist passionate about conservation, the Duck Stamp Art Contest offers a great platform to showcase your skills and make a real difference.

Hunters

By law, hunters aged 16 and older must purchase a valid Duck Stamp and carry it with them when hunting waterfowl. This ensures that hunters are contributing to conservation efforts aimed at preserving critical habitats for migratory birds and other wildlife.

Duck Stamps are also a license to give back. They serve as a visual reminder of a hunter's commitment to conserve the land by upholding lawful hunting practices.

The revenue generated from Duck Stamp sales is used to acquire and protect wetlands and other habitats in the National Wildlife Refuge System, benefitting numerous species of wildlife.

WHY YOUR PURCHASE OF A
FEDERAL DUCK STAMP MATTERS

When you buy an annual Duck Stamp, you're supporting an important cause that has a direct impact on wildlife conservation and helping our ecosystems to thrive.

WHAT IS THE DUCK STAMP
MODERNIZATION ACT OF 2023?

Introduced on December 19, 2023, the Duck Stamp Modernization Act was signed by President Biden in an effort to simplify the process for hunters to acquire necessary licensing. This act modifies provisions regarding the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, commonly referred to as the duck stamp, including allowing an individual to be carrying an electronic stamp, rather than a paper stamp, at the time of taking waterfowl.

ELECTRONIC STAMPS

The act will allow hunters access to an electronic duck stamp via their smartphone to meet the requirement that they purchase a Federal Duck Stamp and carry it while in the field.

STATE ISSUANCE

The act requires states to issue electronic stamps at the time of purchase. These new electronic stamps are valid through the first June 30 after issuance.

PHYSICAL STAMPS STILL ISSUED

Collectors and those who prefer a traditional stamp still receive a physical Duck Stamp in the mail. Stamps will be issued after March 10 of the following year after purchasing the E-Stamp.
